About the Newspaper

The Ramah Pines is a digitally provided monthly newspaper created by local Ramah residents as a service for Ramah and surrounding communities. The newspaper is intended to provide news and other articles of local interest, local advertisements, and special interest stories specific to the local area. We are looking for community input for our paper.  This is your paper too.

Ramah made a country girl out of a city girl. When Dane asked me to marry him, he warned me that Ramah is where he wanted to stay and so here I am 42 years later.

We had 5 children, the oldest a girl and then 4 more boys. They have all grown and have very successful lives. Dane and I have been empty nesters for over 10 years now. I have always tried to serve this community through family, church, school and the fire department. Dane and I are now retired from the fire department after 35 years but we still help when we can. Now I have had a dream to start a newspaper and never knew how to do it before. Our community has always needed some way to get news out besides at the church. I hope to open many new doors for people in town to share their talents as well. Thank you for your support in this new chapter of my life. I  hope it will be a good one for all involved. I would like to thank Dawnee Burson who has been involved in the web page designing and  others for writing articles. This is so exciting, I can feel it in my bones!

My husband, Carnes and I are 35-year residents of Ramah. We have just celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary and have 5 grown children and 6 grandchildren. Carnes and I are both retired now from decades of teaching. Carnes enjoys writing music, playing guitar, and singing. I have many hobbies – quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, gardening, the outdoors, and creative writing. We are both avid readers, which may explain why I am doing the special features. I hope you enjoy reading some of the creative poems and stories from local writers and look forward to more submissions for this section as well as gardening tips, knit or crochet patterns, and favorite recipes to include in future issues. Your ideas, suggestions, and participation will help to make this a true community newspaper!

Hi my name is Aleeya. I am a journalist and photographer for this newspaper. If you need pictures, let us know, and we'll see what we can do for you!

Now this is her Mimi talking, a.k.a Shari. I have to tell you Aleeya has been a big asset in sharing her talent for photography. Her grandpa gave her his old camera and she has taken some great pictures with it. She is excited to be a part of our crew.
